Laduree, a French luxury bakery – world’s best known premier sellers of the double decker macaron is to open its first outpost in Malaysia. It is expected to open its doors at Pavilion KL’s Couture zone (level 3) very soon.
Founded by miller and prolific writer Louis-Ernest Laduree in 1862, Laduree had humble beginnings as a small bakery in Rue Royale, Paris making sweets and baked goods.
It wasn’t until 1930 that his grandson Pierre Desfontaines had the original idea to create the double-decker macarons by sticking two macaron shells together with a creamy ganache filling in the middle, bringing about the French macarons we know today.
What distinguishes the French macarons is the smooth butter-like filling in the center. Laduree macarons shows the perfect balance of texture, flavoring and aesthetics, a large part of which is the wide array of colors representing flavors ranging from raspberry to pistachio nuts to matcha tea and many others.
Now, the pastry chain has expanded to five continents. Laduree have also collaborated with fashion designers Christian Louboutin and Marni.
