It has already been few years since the giant panda is lend to Malaysia government for display to show strengthen relationship between both countries. First the male giant panda is brought to Malaysia; Fu Wa is located at the sanctuary that is built exclusively for him with almost the same atmosphere and temperature as his homeland. The Giant Panda Conservation Center is built with a cost of over RM25 millions where it have been featuring three main exhibit areas which would be kept at under 24°C to mimic their natural habitat.
There was also an exercise area, holding den, food preparation area, storage rooms, laboratory, veterinarian clinic, incubator room, nursery and a monitoring room within the enclosure. Fu Wa, a male giant panda born on Aug 23, 2006, and Feng Yi, a female born on the same day arrived on mid-April last few years. Fu Wa, the male panda, is now called Xing Xing which means Prosperity, while female panda Feng Yi is Liang Liang or Pretty. The entry fee for the zoo which includes the giant panda exhibition display will cost around RM50.
The exhibition center is located up on top and before you enter you will be given briefing by the staffs on how to behave once you were inside. After few years, the conservation center has become a famous must-see attraction every time you visit Zoo Negara. The giant panda has become the zoo’s sweethearts ever since they are transported there. Good news is, the female giant panda has already safely giving birth to her cub where now the cub is growing as a healthy little panda. For you to catch the sight of those two you need to enter at a specific time, preferably at 2.30 after lunch.
The giant pandas has become familiar with their habitat here and commonly you will catch them sleeping on top of the huge ice cube which are made for them to cool themselves from the hot weather. The giant panda can be seen growing big and healthy, adapting to their new environment while getting all the love and attention they needed. Hopefully they will produce more baby panda in Malaysia and continue to prosper with happiness right here.
