For 3 days only, Kuala Lumpur’s lively Madras Lane is turned into a themed laneway that makes our jaws drop. The event, Lorong Fest, transforms the oldest street food market and open-air carpark to an attractive escape filled with culture, history and not forgetting, food from 29 November till 1 December!
Nostalgia awaits at Madras Lane where previously the iconic Madras Theatre stands before it was consumed by a fire in 1979. The theatre was a local hotspot to catch Chinese action films, Western movies and love stories in the late 20th century.
Advancing 40 years later, one would be able to relieve the vibrancy of Madras Lane (the lane is named as homage to the theatre) at Lorong Fest.
The alleyway will feature live performances, film screenings, photo exhibition, arts and crafts workshop and a wide array of food as part of a new initiative to revitalise the historic laneway.
The Laneway Improvement Programme is a joint initiative by Think City, DBKL and Citi Foundation to reintroduce the rich heritage in Madras Lane as a comfortable, attractive public space for everyone.
