The first resort to open on the city’s wild green lung is a trailblazing beacon of green living, an escape from the busy city. The 12-room boutique inn is nestled amid a wilderness of mangroves and palm trees on Bang Krachao, a small island known as Bangkok’s ‘green lung’ in the Chao Phraya River. Automobile-free, Bang Krachao is home to six small communities, fruit orchards, 200-year-old Buddhist temples and is only accessible by boat, although connecting to the city’s Skytrain is a snap.
Tree House is the creative fruit of Joey Tulyanond, whose family also owns the Old Bangkok Inn in the capital’s historic old quarter.

The Crazy House, as it’s called by locals and tourists alike, does actually have a real name – the Hang Nga Guesthouse. It has rooms that people can sleep in but it’s also open during the day for visitors to wander through and explore. It is the work of a renowned Vietnamese architect, Dang Viet Nga. She is known for her overall design that was inspired by the natural environment surrounding the city of Da Lat.
The holiday home is 86 km from Nha Trang Airport. Rooms offer various animal themes for guests who enjoy alternative décor. Each room is fitted with a seating area, a wardrobe and heating facilities.
